Hubs bought me this gorgeous batik dress when he was in Jakarta . Indonesian batik is slightly different than Malaysian batik but I love it nonetheless. The story that came with the dress was that it was loose free flowing dress that was just below my knees . The salesgirl told hubby " Pak , baju ni memang patut dipakai begini, loose and flowy". Mazeed's respond was "Enggak boleh , ibunya pakai hijab!!" Whatever it was , he came back with the blouse and I vowed to follow him to Jakarta the next time he went. 😜
I'm in between staring at the dress and typing. There's 4 shawls hanging alongside the dress . Shoes and handbag has been decided. Kain decided and I'm going to iron them all tomorrow.
This is how I wear dresses since I started wearing the hijab. With my jeans or long pants. If it's a short sleeve I'll put on a cardigan. No point of getting rid of old beautiful clothes.
I usually lay my clothes out in front of Marisa. My fashion consultant who watches enough Fashion Police to be my critic and gives me suggestions. I now just decide on my own as my girls are too young and the men are no help when it comes to the dressing department. It feels odd. Adapting and changing . It's a necessity but not particularly easy. Having to move on without that person you've loved all your life. But as I move on without her , my decision that I'm making without her today is the purple shawl. That's what I'll be wearing. And that's how it'll be. Little baby steps of moving on.
